Television and film actor Rituraj Singh on Tuesday died at the age of 59. The actor, who was playing the role of Yashpal in popular daily soap ‘Anupamaa’, was suffering from a pancreatic disease. He was hospitalised and passed away due to cardiac arrest, his close friend and actor Amit Behl told Times Now website.

Soon after the news of Rituraj Singh’s sudden demise spread, his fans and close friends from the industry expressed condolences. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta posted on social media platform X,”Rituraj!!!! Can’t believe this! I directed him briefly in a daily soap called K Street Pali Hill but in the process we became good friends. Been a while since we hung out but I have such fond memories. Untapped actor and a warm human. Gone suddenly and too early.”
“Rituraj, my friend, how did you make it even possible? “Kitna baaki tha…” Artists never die,” Vivek Agnihotri posted.
Actor Manoj Bajpayee too mourned Rituraj Singh’s death. “How can this be true Ritz? Why? Such a devastating news to wake up to ! Rest in peace Rituraj my friend! ॐ शान्ति,” the actor posted on social platform X.

Who was Rituraj Singh?
Born in Kota on May 23, 1964, Rituraj Singh was a part of theatre group led by Barry John in the late 1980s. The famed group comprised Shah Rukh Khan, Divya Seth and Deepika Amin. Singh shot to fame with popular serial ‘Banegi Apni Baat’. Later, he featured in famous shows like ‘Hitler Didi’, ‘Yeh Rishtaa Kya Kehlata Hai’, ‘Shapath’, ‘Adaalat’, ‘Aahat’ and many more. Recently, he played Rupali Ganguly’s on-screen character Anupamaa in the TV show of the same name.
His career was not confined to television. Rituraj Singh played Varun Dhawan’s father in 2017 hit ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’. He was also seen in Satyameva Jayate 2 which had John Abraham in the lead role.
